Measure has passed!

The much needed funds Measure J will provide our local El Monte schools with the resources it needs to repair deteriorating classrooms and build new ones to reduce overcrowding.

Maintaining educational excellence to allow El Monte City School District students to perform well in quality environments has been taken very seriously by the Board of Education, voters and parents.

The Board of Education placed this measure on the ballot to fund critical repairs and safety projects for additional classrooms. As construction costs continue to rapidly increase, maintaining our momentum to complete the job begun by Measure K will be cost efficient and timely in supporting children's learning and safety needs.

Measure J will give our kids the critical resources they need to learn. These include:

  • Provide additional classrooms to prevent overcrowding
  • Repair aging and leaky roofs, cracked walls and floors
  • Upgrade electrical systems
  • Renovate serving kitchens (cafeterias)
  • Replacing outdated heating and air-conditioning
  • Build multi-purpose areas for school and community use
  • Developing drop-off zones at schools to improve strudent safety

Measure J funds will be closesly monitors by an independent Citizen's Oversite Committee, which will report to the public on annual financial and performance audits. No monies will be spent on administrations' salaries.
