Durfee K-2 Accepts School Supply Donation from Subway
A giant sandwich was seen walking around El Monte City School District’s Durfee K-2 School last Tuesday morning. Why, you might ask? It was a Subway Restaurant sandwich there to present $200 worth of school supplies to the school. Through Subway’s Adopt-a-School program, restaurant manager Vanessa Cervantes Perez, presented the school with supplies that included crayons, rulers, markers, scissors and tissue.
Principal Victor Mendoza was on hand to accept the donation. He said, “Creating partnerships with El Monte schools and surrounding businesses is important to student achievement.” He added, “Research says the closer the community is to the school, the higher the student achievement.”
Perez said, “Subway Restaurants in El Monte and South El Monte are dedicated to helping to enrich El Monte schools and we will continue to do so.”
To back up her commitment, from October 3rd through 14th Cervantes’ Subway Restaurant located at 1130 Peck Road in South El Monte is having a fundraiser with 20% of the proceeds going to El Monte schools. Be sure to stop by, have a meal and support El Monte schools.
